John Worth

The Aftereffekt originated from John's dangerously creative mind. He has worked in groups dating back to the mid 80's, including bands like Perfect Strangers, Free Will, Monolyth, Major Company, and Longhouse among others. He has been a keyboardist for 20 years, and is versed in many styles of music, greatly preferring those that veer from the modern trends.

His main style influences would be Classic and Progressive Rock, Fusion Jazz, Heavy Metal, New Age / Trance / Electronica, and Acoustic.

John has a particular talent for writing original music, which came out of boredom after playing in different cover bands around the area. He likes to create complex passages and ambient / subsonic pieces which give the songs a new kind of presence. He has done work with both Rob and Larry in the past.

Bryan Tucker

Bryan Tucker has been a performer since… well, almost since conception. Realizing he had absolutely no rhythm he began singing. He was forced to sing at church as a pre-teen and realized the heathen aspects of music were more to his liking. After years of dinner theater, opera at such esteemed halls as the Kennedy Center, acting, modeling, TV commercials and movie extra parts, he decided to hone his voice. He received a 2-year scholarship for classical vocals at the Peabody Institute in Baltimore.

Totally immersed in music and performing, he formed a band in the early 90’s. Throughout the decade, Witzend would enjoy 3 CD releases, extensive touring and all the ‘fringe benefits’ involved with being the lead singer and lyricist for a popular local band. Bryan was also invited to sing on several releases from local artists looking for a singer with a wide range and scope of ideas.

Gravitating to the progressive genre of music, Bryan was heavily influenced by such bands as RUSH, MARILLION, GENESIS, IQ & PORCUPINE TREE. While looking for musicians with ‘like minds’ in the area, he came across the Aftereffekt. The projects originator (our man John) was looking for a unique style of vocalist / lyricist to help expand the vision of his project. This was a good time and a good fit for both of them and the rest is a work in progress…
  • Turn On's Include:: Odd, imported ales (Blueberry Wheat being a fine example). Early Simpson’s, the NFL, sleeping, imported women, MILLENIUM (the series), the X-FILES (Oh’ agent Scully!) & hard core progressive rock. Did I mention a nice long nap on a summer day?
  • Turn Off's Include: Closed minded musicians, American Idol (and any ‘reality’ show), MySpace blogs, the music industry, the music industry and oh yes, the music industry.

Chris Boron

Chris Boron's bass style reflects his many varied tastes & experiences. A native of a little town in central Pennsylvania just north of the Mason Dixon line, Chris began his musical miseducation at the tender age of 9, with an unsuspecting trumpet. Eventually, he switched over to guitar, and finally to bass, earning himself a spot in the Gettysburg College Jazz Ensemble. And the rest is history, so they say- two years of bass lessons, performances with the Ensemble, and a tour of Europe to top it off, sum up his final four years of formal education. History.

This was by no means the top of the mountain, though. Chris was now ready to try his hand at his first love, rock and roll. He found his way to Baltimore, and immediately immersed himself in the local music scene, playing power pop, classic rock, glam, modern rock, etc, in various bands, soaking up diverse styles like a sponge. One of these bands, Witzend, was where he met vocalist, lyricist, and fellow sicko Bryan Tucker. Alas, after 3 years, as many albums, a stellar run in the local music scene, and a few too many tribulations, Witzend called it quits. In the words of a revered & deceased ex-Beatle, "All Things Must Pass"... we hope he wasn't singing about his lunch.

Chris then put together a classic rock band with his fiancee, Annie Eidolon, called "Disowned". Eventually, after dealing with crappy clubs, shady booking agents, and a revolving door of band members, Disowned lived up to its name, & they put it out to pasture. Right before that happened, though, Bryan contacted Chris with an offer to join The Aftereffekt. Bryan's logic was simple- in his mind, Chris was the only bassist for the job. Although Chris's first love is admittedly classic rock in the vein of Beatles, Hendrix, Zeppelin, etc, he is just as big a fan of Rush and Yes, and, in part thanks to Bryan, Porcupine Tree. He was intrigued with the music that Bryan & John Worth played for him, and relished the opportunity to work on something that would challenge his ear and bass chops, and still sound cool. And it keeps getting cooler, especially with the addition of Guitarist Larry Wilson & Drummer Rob Reid.

  1. Like his taste in music, Chris's taste in beer is extensive & varied. Starting out as a Bud drinker in his early days, Chris now names as his favorites Yuengling (good Pennsylvania beer!), Spaten Optimator, Royal Lion Stout, Guinness, and his most favorite, Leffe Belgian Blond.
  2. He also watches way too much TV (especially the On-Demand movies)... and is addicted to Sudoku.
...what a life...

Larry Wilson

Larry is a quiet and intense person... and a consumate professional on guitar. He likes to sit down and work out arrangements with the other musicians to bring out the very best in a song. There are very few styles outside of his ability to play. Larry teaches guitar for all levels, and has been involved in music and associated projects for over 20 years. He has worked in various projects with Rob, and joined up with the Aftereffekt project about the same time. With John's detailed keyboard structures, a guitarist who knows how to write and arrange was essential, and Larry was perfect for this kind of project.

Rob Reid

Rob is a Baltimore area drummer with over two decades of professional experience as well as graduating from Musician's Institute in 1992. His versatile skills include many types and styles of drumset and hand percussion. He currently works as an accompanist at the Baltimore School for the Arts and The Pennsylvania Regional Ballet. When not performing, he can be found working the earth at Buppert's Farm.

Rob has involved himself in a number of projects which resulted in showcases, theatre performances and regional tours. Some of his previous bands were "The Big Stir", which incorporated Jazz and rock, along with a little fusion and experimental flavor... "Medium Underground", a progressive band with an A-List of musicians. He has a penchant for heavy metal and loves groups like Iron Maiden, Dio, AC/DC, the Scorpions, etc.... Rob's latest project, along with the Aftereffekt, is The Levee Sheiks.
