The Aftereffekt has a two-fold mission. This only emerged after years of experience, playing in the field, learning the art of mixing and mastering and the details of the music business. The two facets of the Aftereffekt are:
Armed with the understanding of how difficult it is to get a major labels attention, this new direction was created. The group plans to release a self-produced CD, and gain the attention of a more localized prog-rock label. With the pipe-dream of being a "rock star" and playing in massive arenas put aside, the band can focus on a lasting and enjoyable career in music. Some of the Aftereffekts goals are to complete the recording and production of their CD, display their talent in larger venues and showcases, and gain a solid cult following. The other facet of the band is to write customized material for soundtrack / TV / video games / internet radio, etc.... With the popularization of music submissions for this industry, the business model had begun to follow alternative angles. In other words, artists do not get paid nearly as much, or not at all. Sometimes the opportunity will list itself as "a competition" to deter the attention of the artist in the hopes to gain publicity.
The Aftereffekt knows how to network, get it's name out there, and most of all, create great music. Therefore, submissions that don't involve royalties, license benefits and / or outright purchased content will be few and far between. Neither of these facets of the Aftereffekt hold priority over the other, though arguably writing and performing ones own material is more fun. The Aftereffekt has over 60 years of combined experience. Each musician can either play a style directly (as listed on the main page) or play a pseudo-version. To work with specific criteria from a client, learning a new style is also within the realm of possibility. |
